Jack Arthur Simanjuntak, M.Des.Sc.

jack.jpgJack Simanjuntak was born in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia where he studied architecture. He received his M.Des.Sc. degree from University of Sydney, Australia, in 2003, majoring audio-sound design. In 2004, he joined Conservatory of Music-Sound Design and Music Production, Universitas Pelita Harapan, as a lecturer. Since 2005 he has been working as sound designer and music producer of TV programs, movies, and music.
Currently he is a Ph.D scholar majoring in traditional Indonesia musical instruments, music acoustics, sound recording & reconstructions, at Institute Technology Bandung (ITB), Indonesia. His research and publications, based on West Java ancient music instruments, brings new details and standpoint to development of recordings and sound reconstructions from perspectives of music acoustics and also ethnomusicology. He has led workshops and seminars on sound, music, recording, and sound-art at several events and universities.
