Rahmadhani Syah, B.Mus.

Born in Makasar to a family of music lover, Ramadhani Syah began his musical journey with a simple keyboard at home. Gradually, he became more interested in piano and jazz music; listening to jazz giants such as Wynton Kelly, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis. In 2009, he finished his undergraduate degree at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, Netherland. While at the conservatory, he featured on Kestutis Vaiginis Quartet’s album “Gypsy Nature”. He was also awarded “The Artistry of Dick Oatts and Young Jazz Musician” and became the proud member of Re-Bop Unit, a jazz group consisted of specially selected students from different countries by New York musician Dick Oatts. They later on went on tour to promote their album with Dick Oatts to countries and cities such as; Bucharest, Arad, Cluj, Timisoara, Romania, Amsterdam, Assen, Den Haag, and of course Groningen.

Dhani studies piano under the guidance of jazz teachers such as; Jasper Soffer, Marc Van Roon, David Berkman, Indra Lesmana, Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah, Aksan Sjuman, Michael Moore, Elena Mlainova, Steve Altenberg, Joris Teepe, Raplh Peterson, Alex Spiagin, Freddie Bryant, Deana DeRose, Kurt Weiss, Brian Lynch, Don Braden, Mark Gross, and faculty member of Prins Claus Conservatorium.


Nowadays, Dhani is a part of The Jongens Quartet with Johanes Radianto, Doni Sundjoyo, and Elfa Zulham. He is also busy creating new ideas for his new project Dhani Syah Trio. Besides performing and composing, Dhani is also teaching at Universitas Pelita Harapan, Conservatory of Music.
