Classical Performance

The goal of the department is to develop technical command and artistic potential of each student to the fullest as a performer through wide variety of styles and repertoires from early Baroque to the present. Students will individually work with our nationally and internationally renowned faculty. Several additional courses are required to support and foster students’ development by participating in studio classes (performance practice evaluation), master-classes with both UPH Conservatory of Music faculty and visiting artists/scholars, competitions, and festivals. Students are also required to enroll in big ensembles, including concert choir, orchestra, or big band for at least six semesters; and encouraged to participate in chamber music or other smaller ensembles.

Jazz & Pop Performance

The mission of the Jazz & Pop Performance program is to provide excellence in academic and professional career preparation for the challenges facing today's musician. Our mission is fulfilled by combining the study of jazz & popular music with strong emphasis on quality musicianship in solo, combo, and big band settings. Additionally, the program provides a supportive environment for the study of jazz & popular music. The jazz & pop education program at UPH represents the contexts and challenges encountered by contemporary musicians.

 

Students will be surrounded by environment that would enrich one to be the best that he or she can be. Our small classes will build strong relationship between student and teacher so we can keep our fully attention to all student's growth. There's going to be a lot practical class that will teach student how to play and perform in real situation, with guidance from our experienced instructor.

The goal of the department is to prepare students who will serve with class-act leaderships and therefore become positive role models for their students. The materials will focus on traditional public school music and all aspects of music pedagogy. The department has been maintaining close relationships and associations with music teachers around greater Jakarta area so that students will acquire such opportunities both for their internships and professional subsequent careers.

 

  • Graduates will acquire best strategies and methods to support productively their private teachings in voice or other instruments.
  • Graduates will acquire an indepth understanding of the needs of students in a classroom setting as well as being able to find innovative, attractive and effective solutions to any educational challenges.
  • Graduates will be able to conduct and write original compositions or arrangements for a school band, orchestra and choir.

Music Therapy

The goal of the department is to apply music as powerful therapeutic tool for rehabilitation of patients both physical and mental health by working on cognition, speech and language, motor control, emotional growth, and social skills. The department has been maintaining close relationships and associations with several schools, hospitals, and clinics; and is currently working on establishing relationships with Siloam Hospitals and Pro Kids Clinic, both in Tangerang area for students to be involved in research and internship.

 

Music therapy is the use of music and its aspects as non-verbal means of communication to improve clients' quality of life. This concentration is designed to prepare our students to work as music therapists with various age groups and populations in different clinical settings. Our music therapy clinic allows our trainees to observe music therapy sessions and undertake placements as part of their training requirements. 

 

As the only university that offers music therapy concentration, we are also a member of the World Federation of Music Therapy.

Music Composition & Film Scoring

A successful Music Composition student will be able to present original works that shows significant artistic growth in developing and realizing musical ideas using materials and techniques appropriate to the particular idioms or styles employed. The program is set to equip students with understanding of basic to advanced composition techniques for working with various acoustic and electronic mediums. During their study students will receive weekly guidance to be originally artistic, creative and innovative in musical outputs. They will find opportunity to present their musical ideas and their composition in an encouraging academic environment, opportunity to get their composition performed by our performing groups, opportunity to rehearse and lead ensembles performing students’ original works, opportunity to meet and interact with various inspiring artists and composers. With our composition program in UPH Conservatory of Music, our Music Composition major students are prepared to be leading composers in the country that will pave the way for stylistic progresses of Indonesia Modern Music.

Sound Design & Music Production

Collaborating with UPH School of Design in cinematography and animations, our program has a small number of students limited to 20-30 incoming students each year. The reason to it is that every student will spend a significant amount of time working in the studios and recording labs. Each semester, students provide all audio production support for the conservatory performance activities of student recitals to complex sound reinforcement for bigger ensembles.

 

Acquire artistic expertise with a high number of practical hours in audio technology and its application in sound design, music industry and multimedia, including audiovisual media, recording, and performing music production.
